Ok, so new thoughts about the couch. Danza made some good comments, but I think that based on additional research there is essentially very little hope that I could cover a couch myself with a patterned fabric. I'm not positive I could do it with a plain fabric, so I'd say patterned is out. And to be honest, I'm kind of a flake and it is highly likely that I would be sick of the pattern within a month.
So now I'm thinking I should just get a plain slipcover if I can find one to fit, in a neutral color, and then make pillows out of these types of fabrics.
That same website that I found those fabrics on also has some great pillow patterns. And I'm sure I could wip up a pillow or two or ten.
